Persuading Congress

Imagine that Congress is trying to balance the budget and cutting spending for many programs. My job is to create a persuasive presentation that persuades members of Congress to either support or not support continued funding for United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS). .  .

There are many programs that the United States uses to help benefit our country. They all provide different services that help us to thrive as a nation. One of which is Homeland Security and we should continue to support it.

Homeland security first came about during the 9/11 attacks. The attacks left our country in confusion and fear of what to do next. So, the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was created on November 25, 2002 as a response.

This program benefits and helps to defend every citizen in America against terrorist attacks. On the annual budget, this program requires $55.1 billion in taxes.  This program helps to take up 19.7% of the total federal budget.

It has created jobs for over 200,000 federal employees making it the second largest cabinet department. This has increased the amount of people who are willing to get their degree in homeland security. With all those participants, it will continue to help grow our country’s defense.

Many programs help to grow our economy and society. However, we must continue to fund this program so that our country can continue to be protected against the threats from the inside. Jobs will also continue to grow in this department if we continue funding it.

Why Not To Increase Minimum Wage

Why Not To Increase Minimum Wage

The Government uses various ways of trying to regulate spending in the economy. One of the ways they do this is through Minimum Wage which is the standard payment an average worker is paid. The question is usually whether or not it is a good idea to increase that standard and this article states why it is not good to increase Minimum Wage.

The first reason that an increase in Minimum Wage is not good for regulation is because of the amount of people wanting to work due to an increase in payment. With the increase in payment, employers won’t have as much money to put towards multiple workers so would instead look by the quality and experience of the workers and would therefore increase the unemployment rate. This doesn’t benefit the lower class at all, since they don’t always have the experience of that of the higher class.

The second reason that an increase Minimum Wage is not good for regulation is because of cut in benefits. For example, if a worker with experience was able to get a job, the employer would need to cut certain services such as health insurance in order to pay the increase in minimum wage. This means they won’t get as good insurance in case something happens to them and this would damage things for the worker in the long run.

The third reason that an increase in Minimum Wage is not good for regulation is because it leads to inflation. If the employer needs to hire more workers for the job, he would need to find other ways of cutting things down to reduce spending for himself as much as possible. This could lead to him increasing prices on the services he provides and would ultimately create a loophole because now that those employed now get paid more, they would also need to spend more on such services and due to the fact that lesser qualified will no longer be eligible for a job, they will be forced to pay even more for goods.

In conclusion, we see that increasing minimum wage is not a good idea. It may benefit for the time being, but it has a long term cost that could damage things dangerously for the economy and the unemployment rate. The Government can use many ways to regulate the economy, but increasing minimum wage is not the way to go.

Biography for Christopher Nolan

Biography for Christopher Nolan

Christopher Nolan was born July 30, 1970 in London, England, UK. As a child, he had dual citizenship, moving back and forth from the United Kingdom and Chicago. He began to become interested in filming at the age of 7, when his father bought a Super 8 camera and he would make films with his action figures.
Christopher Nolan went on to follow his childhood roots in filmmaking. He has become well known for his unique way of shooting films such as his film Inception. Nolan has also become well known for his Batman Trilogy.

His Batman films had begun a turn on the filmmaking franchise to make superhero films more realistic. The style of shooting with traditional film cameras rather than digital and organic effects has been well enforced with his films, showing that not only his film’s stories need to seem real, but also the effects. The fact that he has done similar things that I have done in my life such as filming things since a young age have made me consider a similar career path as he one day.

Christopher Nolan has used Harness in his work because of his objective thinking with his films, such as how he was able to make a real life rotating hallway film set, which little to no animation used. He also uses underestimating the roadblocks because of how he is able to accomplish making such constructive film sets and unique ways of using IMAX cameras even though to some it would be very difficult. Networking has also been used by Nolan because of his choice in cast that are willing to take their own stunts, as well as well-known actors who people will go see a movie for. Take the first step is also something that Nolan did to get where he is today, by starting on smaller movies that slowly began to turn into much bigger movies.
